exercises for outer hip pain hip bursitis

If you are experiencing pain on the side or back of your hip, you may be experiencing hip bursitis or gluteal tendinopathy.

These conditions can range from mild to very painful, and they make walking, climbing stairs, sitting, and even sleeping difficult.

What Causes Outer Hip Pain?

Outer hip pain can be caused by muscle imbalances, misalignment, and especially increased activity from your norm.

Tendons that attach to the bone may be injured or the bursa in your hip inflamed.

How To Relieve Outer Hip Pain

Here are some tactics to relieve pain on the side or back of the hip:

  • Gentle exercises like the ones in the video below
  • Heat or ice
  • Reduced activity while mending
  • Sleeping on your side with a pillow between your knees or under your feet while on your side

The 3 exercises in the video below are mild but effective.

If possible, do them in the morning and again in the afternoon.

An important reminder is to not push into the pain but stop short of the pain as to avoid further irritation.

If after two weeks you see no improvement, then it’s time to visit the doctor to get a correct diagnosis and plan for a cure.

First, give these exercises a try and don’t overdo your activities while you are healing.

I hope you feel better soon!
