I am reading a book called ‘Everybody’s Got Something.’
It reminds me that most of us will face challenges throughout our lifetime and that we can sit around feeling sorry for ourselves with these shortcomings or get active finding ways to deal with them.
One of my challenges, as many of you know, is arthritis, especially in my hands and feet.
I have been to plenty of therapy, some good and some bad, and what I have learned foremost is that gentle movement to the affected area can increase blood flow to the joints and improve stiffness and help reduce inflammation.
Moving when something hurts is many times the last thing we want to do, but finding the right moves that work for us can result in less discomfort overall, especially when standing or walking.
The last thing we want to do is to move less, allowing our joints and muscles to become weaker, more rigid, and causing us to lose mobility and the ability to perform our daily tasks.
This can definitely affect our goals to live independently through our senior years.
Today’s routine of foot exercises for arthritis is what works best for me.
I do sometimes add in some of the other foot exercises found in the pain relief section of our fitness library.
So I hope you will be proactive and give some of these a try so you can find what works for you. Feel better soon and…
