What do you have to do to keep a muscle strong?
Exercise it!
Although the brain is an organ, not a muscle, the same holds true: you have to exercise it to keep it healthy and sharp.
The old adage that applies to your muscles– “use it or lose it”–applies to the brain as well.
So much recent research is finding that our cognitive abilities can stay sharp and even improve if we are willing to put the time and effort into it.
Mind-body exercises like the ones included in this video can help stimulate your brain.
Exercise alone is a great boost for maintaining brain health, but add some thought-challenging sequences to it and it’s like giving your brain a super charge!
Exercising your brain helps with memory, focus and daily functioning and should be a top priority for us seniors.
Incorporating brain exercises into your everyday routine has been proven to help slow down mental decline at any age.
Some easy additional things you can do to promote brain health include:
- Card games
- Jigsaw puzzles
- Crossword, word search and number puzzles
- Dancing
- Socializing
- Listening to music
So why not take a break and join me in this 10 minute video to make you think while at the same time having fun in maintaining and strengthening your brain health.
