Morning is the time of day I have the most energy to get my work and necessary house chores done.
Oftentimes I don’t sit down for a break until lunch time.
All this go-go-go, however, can leave my low back crying for relief by the middle of the afternoon.
And some of you probably experience the same thing for another reason, sitting too long.
A good remedy for this is to take ten minutes and give your back a little TLC.
Just lying down on the bed with your knees bent can take some of the pressure and pain off your lower back.
Adding in some gentle movement and stretches like we’ll do in the video below can ease your discomfort even more.
This video with a few on-the-bed exercises will help massage and unlock tight joints and muscles by increasing blood flow to the area, which will help relieve pain and stiffness.
In addition to gentle exercises for back pain, another tool I use is a back brace–this is the one I’m using in the video.
I love this back brace as it helps support tired muscles and stabilizes the spine for better posture, since poor posture can also be a cause for low back pain.
You can easily slide an ice pack down into it so that you can continue to move at the same time you are seeking relief.
Doctors do recommend you only use it for a few hours at a time so you don’t experience skin irritation or contribute to the weakening of the muscles by not using them.
Also, you shouldn’t sleep with it on.
Lower back pain can make your life miserable and your daily routine stressful, so let’s choose to stop for a few minutes and be proactive by doing just a few simple exercises.
And one more thing that will help with back pain–strengthening your core.
We have a selection of core exercises on this website (here’s a good one to start with).
Or, you can sign up for our 4-week core bootcamp for a week-by-week core-strengthening guide.
